Vaginal Bleeding After Bowel Movement

Vaginal bleeding after or during a bowel movement is essentially worrisome – the vagina and the anus are not connected in any way, and so bleeding accompanying a bowel movement is definitely abnormal.

You do need to be sure that the blood is definitely originating from your vagina and not your anus – it is very easy to misinterpret the blood on the toilet paper. It is much more common for the bleeding to be anal rather than vaginal.

What Causes Vaginal Bleeding after Bowel Movement?

Regardless of the amount of bowel activity it should never trigger vaginal bleeding. Therefore you can assume another cause of bleeding usually from some damaged tissue. If the symptoms persist for any length of time it is highly recommended that you seek medical help.

Curing Vaginal Bleeding after Bowel Movement

As the bleeding could be due to many causes, the treatment will vary. As above, if the bleeding does not appear to stop then you must see your doctor to identify the cause.

Whether the blood is anal or vaginal it is highly important that you find the cause and get the correct treatment.
