Frequent Bowel Movement
A typical person may have 3 bowel movements a day, or as little as only 4 a week. Usually anything over 4 a day could be considered frequent – if you are spending more time in the bathroom than anywhere else then you are probably passing stool too frequently.
What Causes Frequent Bowel Movement?
Other than diarrhea the most common reason for a frequent need to pass stool is illness or nervousness. It could be a sign that you are about to experience diarrhea, usually due to an infection or something you have eaten. Greasy, fatty or spicy foods; or an allergy could all be a factor.
Rushing a bowel movement, not taking the time to completely empty your bowels, can also lead to needing to go again sooner than usual.
Sometimes a frequent bowel movement may be a sign of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease or even cancer.
Cure Frequent Bowel Movement
Taking more time in the bathroom to completely finish a bowel movement may reduce the frequency a little. Medications can help in the case of diarrhea.
If symptoms persist or incessantly reoccur; then consult your doctor, as they can cause serious dehydration and health concern if left untreated.
